Massachusetts Children’s Alliance pioneers the most promising, leading-edge ways that help victims of child abuse receive the best possible care. We do this by:
- Promoting interventions that work
- Delivering effective educational programming
- Galvanizing informed and committed legislative support
- Mobilizing communities to have tough but necessary conversations about child abuse
In 2020, despite the many challenges we faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic, MACA trained over 1,800 professionals and community members through trainings covering the following important topics and innovative interventions:
- Problematic Sexual Behavior (PSB) - Massachusetts Children’s Alliance is working with the Center on Child Abuse & Neglect at the University of Oklahoma to bring a Problematic Sexual Behavior Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (PSB-CBT) Learning Collaborative to six Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) and their mental health partner agencies. Additionally, MACA hosted a 5-part webinar series about what PSB is and how professionals can better address PSB and assist the children they work with.
- Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) via Telehealth - MACA was awarded a grant by the National Children’s Alliance to train clinicians on how to provide Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) via Telehealth platforms.
- Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) - MACA has begun working with community partners to provide training to domestic violence and sexual assault providers. These trainings are focused on enhancing knowledge and skills about recognizing CSEC and strengthening engagement with the statewide response network serving youth impacted by commercial sexual exploitation.
- 10th Annual Healing, Hope, and Justice VIRTUAL Conference - This year MACA transitioned its annual conference to a virtual format to ensure over 325 professionals from across the state and region still had access to high quality and relevent training on how to best serve child abuse victims. The keynote speaker, Françoise Mathieu, spoke about secondary trauma, self-care, and compassion fatigue which was more relevant than ever this year.
Your donations will allow us to continue to provide support for those children most in need. Thank you again for your contribution!
